#2184 - Technical background information

Closed General Question created by lzandvliet 5 years ago

I’ve got some questions regarding the storing of connection and account details in a Office365 setup.

  1. Where are the connection settings of the module stored? Within Office365/your servers/within outlook application?

  2. What data connections are used and how does the data flow when archiving an email? Is a graphical overview available? For example: a. O365 cloud requests plugin from GrinMark b. Plugin from GM servers authorizes through internet to crm c. Plugin from GM servers authorizes through internet to exchange server d. Etc.

  3. Can the plugin be used with an extra layer of security? For example basic authentication, ip block, 2FA, etc.

    Hi Leo,

    1. The settings are stored on GrinMark servers.
    2. The plugin operates on GrinMark servers and makes connections to Exchange/CRM servers from cloud.grinmark.com domain. You need to whitelist it if your systems are behind firewall. Your points a-c are correct - this is how it works.
    3. The plugin can use Exchange application passwords, see this KB for more details http://www.grinmark.com/kb/exchange-web-services-and-two-step-verification.html

    Hello Max,

    Thanks for your fast response.

    1. What is done to prevent abuse (for example by your employees) of our Office and CRM credentials?
    2. And what is done to protect them (from outside, the internet)?

The access to two important systems are given to your company when using the plugin, we must ensure safety for ourselfs and our contacts. I would like to have some 'in depth' information on this subject, can this be given (per mail)?

    Hi Leo,

    1. Only authorized employees have access to GrinMark servers. All passwords are hashed and nobody can see or use them.
    2. Our servers are regularly updated and used solely to run GrinMark software.
    3. Our servers use the highest TLS version supported by customer Exchange/CRM servers.

Thanks Max. Mails to support with exact content as in my first post were not answered for a month, that's why I created a ticket here.

I think this ticket can be marked as resolved now.
