#3779 - Since Implicit installation, Outlook randomly shutting down several times a day

Closed Bug? created by jreutter 3 years ago

Since installing FrontEnd, Outlook closes randomly several times a day. Not a crash, program closes and must be relaunched. Have disabled most add-ins except for essentials (experimenting with them one by one), and still experienced the shutdowns.

    Hi,

Our records show that you (Hissong Group) have been using FrontEnd since 2016 so this must be a new issue related to the add-ins you have been experimenting with. Can you disable FrontEnd and see if these shut downs continue? What exactly is the behavior? Outlook just shuts down by itself?

We stopped using FrontEnd in 2017, this is a new installation complete seperate from the previous version. What Outlook is doing is randomly closing when I click on a email to view its contents. Doesn't matter how many other windows are open, everything closes and Outlook has to be reopened. It's not a crash, just an very efficient way to shut down Outlook completely at random times.

There is nothing in FrontEnd that forces an orderly shut down of Outlook. Please do the following:

    1. Go to File > Options > Add-Ins. Click on the Go button next to COM Add-ins at the bottom and uncheck Implicit FrontEnd. Then restart Outlook and see if this behavior continues
    2. Send us the log file C:\ProgramData\Implicit\Implicit FrontEnd\\SyncAddinTrace.txt

We have verified the sudden shutdown of Outlook was being caused by the Outlook plug for our anti-virus. Disabled, no shutdowns. Enabled, random shutdowns.
