#4904 - Outlook 2021 does not accept the manifest.xml file as a valid Add-in
I downloaded the manifest.xml file to my laptop for adding the Outlook 2021 desktop. In Outlook, I went to File > Options > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-ins > Add. A new dialog box opens prompting me for an exe or dll to load. I can force it to load the xml file, but Outlook then tells me that it is not a valid Office add-in. I checked the zip file I downloaded from the store and there does not appear to be any EXEs in it as well. How can I install the add-in?

Hi there,
It looks like you are going to the wrong Add-in sections within Outlook. To use the manifest file in Outlook please read through our documentation (linked below) which will show how to add the manifest to Outlook desktop Application or Outlook Web Application.

Thanks for responding. I do not have the "Get Add Ins" button on my Home tab. I am using Outlook 2021. I did find the option when I customized the toolbar, however it is greyed out and I do have "Enable Optional Experiences" privacy option checked. I am connected to an imap account, not an Exchange account.

In order to utilize the Outlook Plugin, it is necessary to have a Microsoft Exchange account.
