#3175 - Fails to authenticate for LDAP users

Closed Bug? created by LEAP Australia 3 years ago

Hi We decided to revisit this add-in by using the newer Version 4, since the last failed to work properly due to authentication issues.

It appears that the new version also has authentication problems. From what I can see it works if the CRM account is using the 'built-in' password (standard password). If you are using LDAP, which we are, the add-in fails to authenticate.

Kind Regards Nish LEAP Australia

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having these issues, the plugin does appear to have similar issues with SAML however I've been unable to confirm if LDAP has been effected in the same way replicability. Could you please try the following workaround that appears to have worked for the SAML issues as this would assist us in understanding the problem?

    1. Set up a conventional password for a user.
    2. Use that password for the outlook plugin users password.
    3. Try authenticating the plugin, Even if LDAP is enabled, this password may be accepted.

Note: This relies on LDAP not preventing the login due to how its configured so may not work.

Please let me know how you get on!

    Thanks, Mac

Hi Mac Sorry I should have mentioned it better. I did test it for a conventional password and can confirm it worked (I refer to them as built-in passwords in the original post).

      Cheers Nish

Apologies thanks for letting me know, I'll look into getting an LDAP test environment up and running and attempt to replicate your issues. For now are you able to deploy the workaround fully?

Will raise this as a bug to be tackled.

    Thanks, Mac

Hi Mac We would not be able to rollout the plugin using the workaround due to our security policies. Will have to hold off on the purchase for now; we would be looking at getting about 15+ user licenses. If you have a estimate on when this issues can be resolved would be helpful.

    Cheers! Nish

      Hi Nish,

I've been told it's planned to be included in the future and I'll let you know if and when I know more. Unfortunately, no GitHub repo yet so no public issue, however, your welcome to ask on this ticket or directly email us at outlook[at]salesagility[dot]com if you'd like an update on the status.

      Thanks, Mac

    Hi Mac,

Its been nearly a year since last update; we were again reviewing the ability to use this. Is this something worth looking at or do we look else where?

    Cheers!

    Nish
