#3135 - lots of issues

Closed Installation created by info5 3 months ago

Hi,
I've been using grinmark AESync for quite some time - it has some issues but is workable - ish.

However i thought i'd try the official plugin again as it looks really promising - but there seems to be many issues still.

instant issues:
1. I deleted all contacts, meetings and tasks from outlook to avoid merge/update issues.
2. Contacts were copied from crm to outlook on first pass, but subsequent edits were problematic and throwing errors about too many requests. I also had issues with updating contacts on a mobile (using the same email account). The changes were updated on the desktop but not transferred to crm.
3. initial sync of tasks was successful, however subsequent edits in crm resulted in duplicate entries in outlook.

at this point i decided not to proceed further because of the time involved with cleaning/setting up testing (not a developer) etc
I would be happy to provide feedback and carry out testing with a beta version etc, but unfortunately it's not a workable solution at present - so unfortunately i will need to cancel my subscription again :-(

If you can help resolve the above issues then of course I'm in!

Regards
Keith

    Hi Keith,

Im sorry to hear you had these issues, unfortunately problems like this were common in the V3 Plugin, hence why we moved away from it entirely when building the V4 plugin. May I ask what makes the V4 an unviable solution?

now I'm confused. I thought i was using the v4 plugin? My download options are SuiteCRM-Outlook-Plugin_4.0.0 (which i installed in crm) and SuiteCRMAddIn_3.0.22.0.msi (installed on windows).

Is there a v4 version for outlook as well as the suitecrm module?

My apologies V4 requires 2 installations,

The SuiteCRM-Outlook-Plugin_4.0.0.zip file needs uploaded and installed into the CRM and then the manifest file can be downloaded for the outlook configuration page which should now be visible at the bottom of the admin menu.

Once downloaded you then install that manifest file into Outlook 365 Online or Outlook 2016 Desktop or greater and after configuration on both sides, you should be able to establish a connection.

If you have any issues with this please let me know!

    Thanks,
    Mac

Please Note: the SuiteCRMAddIn_3.0.22.0.msi is not required and can be uninstalled

i see, thank you. i've installed the manifest file on outlook web, but can't figure out where to configure things? We have so many emails we only need certain ones archived to suitecrm etc

ok, i think this is because the outlook plugin has to use an ssl to suitecrm? :/

      Hi there,

Yes that's likely the cause, due to the way the plugin is build and to ensure better Security a valid SSL Certificate is required (HTTPS not HTTP).

If you have any other questions please let me know

      Thanks,
      Mac
