#3047 - v4 doesn't work with SAML authentication

Closed Bug? created by TLii Verified Purchase 3 years ago

Hi

We're using Azure AD for single sign-on, and apparently v4 doesn't work when SuiteCRM is using SAML for authentication, claiming that the password is invalid.

However as a work-around I noticed that if you set up a conventional password for the user, that password is accepted even if SAML authentication is restored.

Hi, it looks like we have the same problem only we don't use Azure. Can you tell more about this work-around?

Thanks you for highlighting this issue, This issue is likely that the SuiteCRM API doesn't support logging in via SAML at this time, I guess the work around is as you suggest to configure user so they can logging with standard login along side the SAML login.

To achieve this depending on the number of user may not be quick work around but you would need to set a CRM password for all users, you may need to disable SAML in the CRM password setting first to achieve this

Then when SAML is re-enabled, edit the each users profile and set SAML2Authenticate Only to unchecked

They should then be able to use the plugin using there CRM password

"Then when SAML is re-enabled, edit the each users profile and set SAML2Authenticate Only to unchecked" For some reason this doesn't seem to be necessary, at least not in our case (could also be a by-product of very old installation; I think the original version was 7.1.5). All that matters is that a password is locally set.

@timo: just as @SuiteCRM explained, each user needs to have a password set in the SuiteCRM's own authentication mechanism. Once set, the user should use that password when logging in with the Outlook plugin.

Thank you for the information and I will check if this is a solution for #3065

I don't see the possibility to log in with the right one because the Outlook app crashes before I can do anything. See https://store.suitecrm.com/support/SuiteCRM-official-outlook-plugin/3065
