#2625 - compatibility with Xero OAuth 2.0

Closed General Question created by ccr 4 years ago

Hi. Xero has deprecated OAuth 1a and all new private apps require OAuth 2.0 compatibility. So effectively this can't be installed. Will you be updating the plugin? If so, when? Thx

I have a number of customers who are using the plugin as is and have yet to get any queries back from them RE the implementation of OAuth 2.0 and their current installations NOT working. Because of this I have been assuming that the plugin is in fact still working. Have you tried installing it without success? If yes, I will set up a test bed and update the code as soon as I can.

    Thanks for your feedback

Thanks for the reply. I did try installing the plugin. The suitecrm end is fine, the problem is that NEW private applications can no longer be created at the Xero end. Your current clients may not have experienced any problem yet if they had installed a a private application prior to the migration as OAuth 1.0a is still being supported at the moment for existing applications (although this is ending).

    The offical notice: https://developer.xero.com/documentation/auth-and-limits/private-applications

Key point: "Important Notice OAuth1.0a is in the process of being deprecated and new private apps can no longer be created. If you're building a new integration you'll need to use OAuth 2.0"

Although you can create a new app (note - not a private application which can no longer be created), the workflow is completely different and built around OAuth 2.0 credential standards structure e.g. openssl keys are no longer used for verification.

If you try creating a new app in Xero you'll see how the issue arises. Hope this helps.

OK, that's brilliant (sort of :=}) I couldn't for the life of me find anything on the Xero site that specified what was happening with NEW Private applications. Looks like I'll need to update the code. Once again, thanks for the feedback...
