I'm sorry for the poor experience with the multi-user search. A recently reported issue with searching for more than 1 user causing no results to fail has been resolved and will be available in the 3.1.20 release set to go out by Monday.
If you still need this functionality please do give it another try in the future.

This has been fixed in the 3.1.20 release that is now available under your purchases at https://store.suitecrm.com/orders.
Install using Module Loader WITHOUT uninstalling first. Leave the existing version. Then be sure to run the following after installation:
