#5884 - Multi File field renders as text input - SuiteCRM 8.6.1
Hello,
I am writing to report that the Multiple File Upload module does not work correctly after installation on SuiteCRM 8.6.1.
Issue description: After adding a field of type "Multi File" to a module layout via Studio, the field renders as a plain text input instead of the expected file upload widget.
Steps already taken: 1. Installed the module via the SuiteCRM Module Loader. 2. Ran Quick Repair and Rebuild after installation. 3. Rebuilt node_modules and recompiled the frontend (including the common, core, and shell packages) following the official SuiteCRM 8 developer documentation. 4. Cleared application cache after each step.
Despite all of the above, the field still renders as a plain text box.
Environment: - SuiteCRM version: 8.6.1 - Module: Multiple File Upload V2 and V3 (both V2 and V3 were installed and tested independently)
Additional context: The issue was reproduced consistently across both custom-built modules and the default modules shipped with SuiteCRM. Furthermore, testing was carried out not only on an instance with custom modifications, but also on a completely clean SuiteCRM 8.6.1 Core installation without any customisations, confirming that the problem is not related to any local changes.
Could you please advise on a supported fix or provide a build of the module that is fully compatible with SuiteCRM 8.x frontend architecture?
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards, Szymon

Hi,
I cannot provide server access. I will email the latest log (public/legacy/suitecrm.log) to info@helfertech.com on Thursday.
I confirm I tested MultiFilesUploadForSuite8MonthlyV2. Tests were run on a clean docker image from Bitnami with SuiteCRM 8.6.1, and on a custom instance installed per SuiteCRM docs.
Please provide concise, step-by-step instructions you use to install your module (Module Loader steps, any extra files, frontend build commands and directories, required package.json changes etc.).
Thanks, Szymon

Hi,
Thank you for the detailed update.
There are no additional commands required to install the module. You can install it directly via the Module Loader, as outlined in the documentation. All necessary processes and commands are executed automatically in the background during installation; no manual intervention is needed.
Once you share the log file, we will review it to identify if any installation steps or background processes failed and assist you accordingly.
Looking forward to your email.

Hi,
Additionally, please try doing a hard refresh of your browser (Ctrl + Shift + R), as this sometimes resolves the issue.
