Dear CMS Staff,

Is it possible to reset the numeric sequence each year?

Best Regards

Hello, actually it cannot be done by the plug-in. It is not that easy to reset a sequence, because it always uses the current maximum value for the next number. If you have some support by your administrators, you could create a second field and copy all generated values into the new field through your database. then you reset the actual sequence field and let it restart. This need to be done once a year.

Another option would be to create a frequent daily job doing that stuff for you. I could customize it, if you need support

Thank you for the explanation. At present I think I'm going simply to create a numeric sequence that starts from 19000, where the fist two numbers represent the year. So at the beginning of the next year I will just edit a record writing value 20000, so that the add-on will go on sequencing from 20001 and so on. I did some testing and this seems to work.

Well that can work, but you limit urself to 999 possible sequences. Maybe I will think about some modifications for prefix and sufix. They should stay all the time the same. If they change, the iteration must reset. This could help you ot by changing they year manually once
