Will AutoPopulate work before the record is saved the first time?

Also, will auto populate be able to extract a Month for a date field?

    Hello,

    Yes. You can auto populate field value on change of relate field based on Auto Populate Field Configuration.

    No. Currently Auto Populate Fields can't be able to extract a Month for a date field. If you want then let us know so we will check possibility about it.
