    That display is for informational purposes only. To change security groups go to the Security Groups subpanel in the Detail View.

      But in the sub-panel can only see the user, but can not see the customer. Can you give me a screenshot?

      If things are configured right you will see a Security Groups subpanel under the record. Ensure that Security Groups is enabled in the user's role and that List is set to All (or Group if they should see only their own).

      The customer is not a user,so we can not assign a user’s role to every customer.

      I don't think that we are talking the same thing. If you save your customer record and go to the detail view page there will be subpanels below the customer record. That is where the Security Groups subpanel will be. If you do not see it there then it is a matter of setting up your SuiteCRM users correctly to see that subpanel. This is assuming that the subpanel is not hidden globally.

      Does the Security Groups subpanel also work with custom modules?

      It should if you used the Hookup Tool. However, there are some custom modules based on an older framework that don't display subpanels correctly. Those may have issues. I have heard recently that some custom modules also define a Security Groups relationship incorrectly. The solution to those (when defined in their vardefs instead of using Hookup Tool) is to delete the relationships table entry for that specific record and then going to Hookup Tool under Admin->Security Suite.

    I did find an issue with how SuiteCRM's Module Builder now creates new modules. It automatically created a relationship with Security Groups, but did so in a way that does not work. This is fixed for the future 2.9.5 release, but it will only apply to future modules built in Module Builder. To fix existing modules deployed by Module Builder:

    • Edit the vardefs.php for that module
    • Remove 'security_groups' from the VardefManager::createVardef call
    • Run Quick Repair & Rebuild a couple of times
    • Go to Admin->Hookup Module
    • Choose your module and click OK
    • Run Quick Repair & Rebuild for good measure

    It should now show the subpanel correctly.

This case is public. Please leave out any sensitive information such as URLs, passwords, etc.
