#1397 - Linking custom module back to lead

Closed General Question created by sstewart Verified Purchase 5 years ago

Good Afternoon,

So far I love this module, however there is one crucial item that I am not able to do. Essentially, I have a webtomodule attached to a custom module that is basically a survey. I need to somehow link that survey back to the correct lead record when it is submitted by the end user.

I was planning sending an email via a workflow that would contain the URL to the web form. I was hoping that I could set a read-only relate field on the webform via the URL, however it doesn't appear that I can pass any field parameters via the URL to the webform.

In another unnamed system, I could simply add the URL to the template and use a merge tag to dynamically add the needed value to the URL. So essentially, if the template was sent from LEAD A, the URL (e.g. suitecrm.abc.com/survey.html&relate_field=28154781) set the RELATE field on the webform to LEAD A so that when it was submitted it would be attached to the correct lead. However, like I said about, attempting to pass parameters via the URl using any normal method doesn't appear to work. On the same thought, I can't even seem to get the relate field to show up on the webform to even begin trying to do this.

I am completely open to suggestions on how to do this, I was hoping this tool would be the answer, but I'm not seeing a way to perform this task. Thanks in advance for any information!

    Hello,

Thank you for the question. This is not the general use case for the mass audience. But here You may try below things.

It can be achieved with small customization like When you generate the link for a specific lead. you need to put that id in hidden in your HTML form. and at CRM side, You fetch that Lead based on ID and relate to a submitted survey.

If you are familiar with PHP. You can do it your self or do contact us at contact@urdhva-tech.com

Okay, but is there a way to display the "Relate" field on the webform and have the end-user select the lead themselves? I am unable to access any relation fields via the form builder.

    Hello,

It is not advisable to add the Relate field into WebForm because all your leads will be reveal/available to anyone. WebToModule is not supporting to add the Relate field into WebForm.

We can customize that the web form will show the name of the Lead on the web form based on the related id. But putting relate field and giving an option to the user to choose is definitely not advisable.

If I can simply get it to display the name of the lead based on the lead ID in the URL that would be great, for example:

      abc.company.net/survey.html?lead_id=adfasdf-234dfar4-342rdsf-4r41344

The above URL would simply pass the parameter to the lead relate field, the end user should not be able to change or access the lead relate field. I just need the parameter from the URL to pass to a read-only lead relate field on the webform.
