MTS Email Read Receipt — Installation Guide

System Requirements

Open tracking (recording when a recipient opens the email) is available on SuiteCRM 8 only. On SuiteCRM 7, the plugin installs and records emails sent, but cannot detect when they are opened.

Installation

Step 1 — Upload the package

1. Log in to SuiteCRM as an administrator.
2. Go to Admin → Module Loader.
3. Click Choose File, select the MTS Email Read Receipt ZIP file, and click Upload.
4. Click Install when the package appears in the list.
5. SuiteCRM will install the plugin and rebuild its configuration automatically. Wait for the confirmation screen before navigating away.

Step 2 — Activate your license

1. After installation, go to MTS Email Receipt → License from the top navigation.
2. Enter your SugarOutfitters license key in the field provided.
3. Click Validate. The page will confirm whether the key is accepted.

Step 3 — Enable tracking

1. Go to MTS Email Receipt → Configuration.
2. Turn on Enable Tracking.
3. Optionally turn on Notify on Read if you want an in-app alert each time a recipient opens your email.
4. Click Save.

Initial Configuration

After the license is validated and tracking is enabled, no further setup is required. Tracking begins automatically on the next outgoing HTML email you send from SuiteCRM.

If you want to adjust notification settings at any time, return to MTS Email Receipt → Configuration.

Verify Operation

To confirm the plugin is working:

1. Send a test HTML email to yourself from SuiteCRM (Emails → Compose).
2. Open the email in your personal inbox (outside SuiteCRM).
3. Wait a few seconds, then go to MTS Email Receipt in SuiteCRM.
4. A receipt record for your test email should appear, with the First Opened time populated.
5. Go to Emails in SuiteCRM and open the sent email — a green "Read" badge should appear in the email view.

Uninstall

1. Go to Admin → Module Loader → Installed Packages.
2. Click Uninstall next to MTS Email Read Receipt.
3. SuiteCRM will ask whether to keep or remove the tracking data. Choose the option that fits your needs.
4. The plugin and its menu items are removed from SuiteCRM.

Troubleshooting

The License page says the key is invalid

Check that you copied the full key from your SugarOutfitters account without extra spaces. Click Validate again. If the error persists, confirm that your SuiteCRM server can reach the internet. Contact support if the issue continues.

The Configuration page shows "License Required"

The license must be validated before the configuration can be accessed. Go to MTS Email Receipt → License first and validate your key.

Emails are sent but no receipt records appear

Confirm that Enable Tracking is turned on in the configuration. Also confirm that the email was sent as an HTML email — plain-text messages cannot carry the tracking marker. Check that you are using SuiteCRM 8.

The "Read" badge does not appear on the Email record

Go to Admin → Repair → Quick Repair and Rebuild and run it. Then reload the email record. If the badge still does not appear, confirm the email type is "Outbound" and status is "Sent".

The receipt record exists but First Opened is empty

The tracking marker was embedded, but the recipient has not opened the email yet — or they opened it using a mail client that blocks remote images. The open count will update as soon as the email is opened with images enabled.
